Iridology, also known as iridodiagnosis, is an alternative medicine practice in which patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the iris are examined for information about a patient’s systemic health. Practitioners match their observations to iris charts which divide the iris into many zones believed to correspond to specific parts of the human body. Little, if any, rigorous scientific evidence exists confirming any such link between aspects of the iris and a patient’s state of health and there is no recognized causative mechanism for any purported correlation.Iridologists claim that they do not diagnose specific diseases, but rather that they “highlight” those systems and organs in the body that are healthy and those which are described as “overactive” O “inflamed.” These are said to point to a tendency in the patient towards certain illnesses, to reflect past medical problems, or to predict health problems which may be developing.Since iridology is not a method of treatment, its practitioners have often studied other branches of alternative medicine, such as naturopathy, and used the study of the iris as a diagnostic first step. Iridology is practiced more widely in Europe (especially in the UK and Germany), where there are approximately 20,000 practitioners, than in the United States, which has only a tenth of that number.

Iridology also commonly referred to as Iridology analysis, also mistakenly referred to as, Iris diagnosis, or Iridology diagnosis, is the study of the iris of the human eye.

Come funziona l'iridologia?

Explain the science of it. How is the eye literally the window to the soul?-Iridology is the science of the iris, or colored portion, of the eye. The iris contains bundles of thousands of nerve fibers and is a reflection of the entire body.The iris is connected to every organ and tissue of the body by way of the brain and central nervous system through the optic nerve. The optic nerve connects to the central nervous system (CNS) which is the main communication link to everything that goes on in the body.Think of your brain as your body’s ‘hard drive;’ it remembers everything that ever happened to your body. Your iris is then like the ‘file folder.’ So ‘reading’ the iris to find out what is going on in the body is similar to how one reads a computer screen to access what’s in a computer.

Iridology is the study of the iris as associated with disease. The ‘iris’ of the eye, is the most complex tissue structure in the human anatomy, which is the exposed nerve endings that makes up the colored part of the eye. From the time we are conceived the iris and all its fibers are formed along with the brain before any other organ is developed, making the eyes an extension of the brain endowed with thousands of nerve endings, microscopic blood vessels, muscle and other tissues. The iris is connected to the tissue of the body by way of the brain and nervous system. The branched nerve fibers (such as dendrites) receive their impulses by their connections to the optic nerve and spinal cord. Nerve fibers in the iris respond to changes in body tissues by manifesting a reflex physiology that corresponds to specific tissue changes and locations, by way of line patterns, fiber structure and color changes in the iris. By this means the body’s inherited and/or acquired state of health sends neural reflexes to the fibers within the iris causing groups of fibers to change by way of line patterns, characteristics, shapes, structures, forms and color in the iris and that is what an Iridologist studies.
