The Historical Roots of Iridology
Left Eye Iridology Chart-Iridology has a rich history dating back thousands of years. Ancient civilizations in Egypt, China, and India are believed to have practiced early forms of iris analysis. However, modern iridology as we know it today began taking shape in the 19th century.
The most significant contribution came from Hungarian physician Ignatz von Peczely in the 1860s. As a child, von Peczely noticed a dark streak in an owl’s iris after the bird suffered a broken leg. This observation sparked his curiosity, leading him to study the connection between iris markings and physical conditions. In 1881, he published his findings and created the first comprehensive iris chart.

By the early 20th century, iridology gained popularity in Europe and eventually spread to North America, where practitioners like Bernard Jensen further developed and standardized iridology charts in the 1950s.
